Deceiver. (Laccaria laccata.)

Deciever mushroom Pitcure of Deciever

Like the Amethyst, it too grows in coniferous and deciduous woodland and is very common, it is also variable in colour and shape and can take a long time to recognize the many different variations of this fungi.

Late Summer till early Autumn.

Cooking and preparation:

Like the Amethyst deceiver they grow short and close to the ground and with the combination of having wide open gills this mushroom tends to pickup dirt very easily, so should be cleaned thoroughly. Can be dried for storage but best if stored in either, spiced alcohol or extra virgin Olive Oil, if you do, it is best to par-boil them first because they tend to ferment.
