LIONS MANE

(Hericium erinaceum)

Habitat:

This fungi in xylophilous and has been found on Oak, Beech, Birch, Maple, Aspen, Ash, Alder, Willow and Poplar. This white and quite beauitiful fungi with its long delicate pointed spines is an endangered species in the UK. There is no data as to why this particular fungus is in decline and therefore should not be collected from the wild.

Season:

Early Spring and late Autumn

It is said to be, easy to cultivate and a good edible mushroom and is reputed to taste of Lobster.
