Habitat:

Hedgerows, gardens near compost heaps and deciduous woodland, rich in humus soil.

Gowing season:

Summer till late Autumn.

Its abundance when few other edible mushrooms are about make it much sought-after fungi!

The Wood Blewit is easily cultivated and a good edible mushroom.

Cooking and preparation:

Possible confusion;

L. glauccocana

Cortinarius violaceus,

C.hercynicus.
